Surin Island
The Surin Islands, located in Phang Nga Province, Thailand, are a remote and breathtaking archipelago in the Andaman Sea, renowned for their crystal-clear waters, vibrant marine life, and pristine natural beauty. Comprising five main islands and part of the Mu Ko Surin National Park, this destination is a dream for snorkelers and divers. The eastern shores feature shallow coral reefs teeming with tropical fish, while nearby Richelieu Rock—one of Thailand’s most famous dive sites—offers the opportunity to encounter whale sharks and other large marine species. The islands are also home to the Moken, a sea nomad community, providing visitors with a rare chance to experience their unique culture and traditions. Traveling by private yacht takes approximately 3 to 4 hours from Phuket, offering a luxurious and scenic journey with the freedom to stop and explore along the way. It's highly recommended to stay at least 2 nights and 3 days to fully appreciate the islands' beauty and tranquility, as a one-day trip won’t do justice to all they have to offer. Overnighting on board or camping on the islands provides the perfect opportunity to soak in the peaceful atmosphere, enjoy stargazing, and indulge in early-morning snorkeling before the crowds arrive. The islands are open to visitors from mid-October to mid-May, when the seas are calm, and the weather is ideal for exploring this untouched natural paradise.
